The Arts & Science Council (ASC) is a non-profit organization that serves and supports Charlotte-Mecklenburg's cultural community through grant-making, planning, programs and services to ensure a vibrant community enriched with arts, science and history.
Organized in 1958, ASC combines resources from the Annual Fund Drive, allocations from local, state and federal governments, and its endowment to support cultural organizations, educational programs and individual artists throughout the region.
ASC also provides cultural support through the Cultural Project Grant program, helping to fund neighborhood and community-based projects involving arts, science, history or heritage.
Over the past five years, ASC has experienced tremendous growth. Thanks to Charlotte's public private partnerships and the community's generous support of arts, science and history, Charlotte is now a cultural model for cities across the country.

The Mint Museum engages audiences at many learning levels, always striving to enhance the learner’s appreciation and understanding of the visual arts. Lectures and demonstrations provide a window into the themes, cultural history and techniques of art. Classes sharpen minds as well as skills in art and craft media. The Mint Museum welcomes families, children, adults and seniors, offering gallery guides, touchable objects, hands-on workshops and Family Days that enable participants to connect to art and to each other.

Having two locations provides our visitors with twice as much to see and do! The Mint Museum and their affiliate groups organize a variety of programs and events throughout the year. Education programs are designed to enhance the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions at both locations, while events mix social interaction with informal art appreciation. In 2009, Center of the Earth Gallery will celebrate over 20 years as a dynamic venue that is dedicated to the exhibition of significant art of our time. We represent over 50 artists of all styles, media, and price ranges. From strong emerging artists to those well established, our artists are widely collected and present a broad spectrum of the regional and national fine art world. CTE artists have been published in Art & Antiques, Art News, Traditonal Home, American Artist, among many other publications. This cutting edge contemporary art gallery is located in Charlotte, North Carolina in the heart of the Historic North Davidson Arts District (NODA), which has become a haven for the visual and performing arts.
Our extensive list of corporate clientele includes clients such as Neiman Marcus, TransAmerica, Bank of America, The Federal Reserve Bank, Hearst Corporation, and Philip Morris USA.
Our mission is to discover and showcase high quality and collectible talent in the contemporary art market. Owners Ruth Ava Lyons and Paul Sires each have over 30 years of experience in the fine arts. Both Ruth and Paul are practicing professional artists as well as dealers. Their reputations as mature artists complement their broad knowledge of various art forms. Both received their Masters degrees at Cranbrook Academy of Art.
